The Japanese Akita Inu dog is a legendary Japanese pet, known to the locals for a long time. Do not confuse the Japanese Akita and the American – they are different dogs.

The Japanese Akita – large Spitz-like dog breed bred in the mountainous regions of northern Japan as a semi-functional hunting breed. The Japanese call this dog “Japan’s treasure”.

The coat of a dog of the Akita breed: The guard hair is hard and straight, the undercoat is thick and soft. The coat on the shoulder blades and “trousers” is slightly longer than on other parts of the body. Longest hair on the tail. The Akita coat should consist of three layers. The longest hairs make up the top, coarsest layer of the coat. There is also a harsher but shorter coat and a soft undercoat. All three layers must be present for the coat to be correct. The structure of the coat makes a significant contribution to the appearance and greatly influences the impression made by the dog. The length of the coat has a great influence on the appearance of the dog. There are representatives of the breed with a shorter coat, and there are owners of a longer coat. In any of these cases, the coat meets the standards, with the exception of a very long and too short coat.
Akita-Inu-descriptionThe color is reddish-fawn, sesame (reddish-fawn hair with black tips), brindle and white. In all colors, except for white, the dog must have “urajiro” – a whitish coat on the lateral parts of the muzzle, cheekbones, lower surface of the jaw, neck, chest, body and tail, as well as on the inner surfaces of the limbs.
The Japanese Akita Inu are large dogs with a powerful physique, large muscles and a round head. The ears are erect. The limbs are muscular, of medium length, the tail is saber-shaped, fluffy. The coat is long.

Akita’s personality

The Japanese Akita Inu dog is a real hero. Or rather, a real samurai. Akita Inu never retreats in battle, distinguished by great devotion to his family and master, and will follow them no matter what. Among their loved ones, these are extremely gentle, affectionate and friendly dogs, with whom it is always a pleasure to spend time. They love to take part in all family affairs, to feel like a part of the team.
The Akita Inu breed has a large amount of internal energy, loves a variety of games and all kinds of entertainment, toys, walks. They need physical activity in order to keep their muscle mass in constant tone, however, if you are not ready to provide your pet with daily training, at least take long walks so that the dog can run to its fullest.
These dogs are aggressive towards other dogs, cats. This phenomenon can be called universal, specific to the breed, but it can be dealt with through socialization – early acquaintance with other pets – cats and dogs, the development of friendly relations with them, as well as acquaintance with other people, sounds, smells, situations.
Akita-Inu
Requires the right approach in education because of the great natural stubbornness. Akita Inu is a breed that treats children well, loves to be friends with them, play, go for walks and generally spend time. Moreover, they are aware of their responsibility for the child. These animals have a very developed intellect, they perfectly understand their owners, understand everything that is happening around them and feel the emotional environment.
Akita Inu love to express their emotions through their voice. They have a lot of different sounds for this – grumbling, barking, howling, squealing and whining – everything you can imagine. These dogs are not recommended for inexperienced or timid owners as they have problems with obedience.

How to take care about Akita Inu

The thick, with undercoat of the Akita Inu dog needs combing 2 times a week. When the dog sheds – as needed, but comb out more often. Also, remember to cleanse deposits from your pet’s eyes after sleeping and keep your ears clean. The claws trim three times a month, the animal bath 1-2 times a week.
